|Hammersmith born Jay started life at Brentford as a trainee in August 1999 making around 50 appearances over four seasons before moving to Farnborough in October 2004. He stayed two seasons with ‘Boro, becoming a regular in the starting eleven. During the 2005/06 season he made an impressive 49 appearances, taking his total there to 79, and was substituted only once.
From Farnborough he moved back to Conference National football in 2006/07 with Grays Athletic before gaining a release from his two year contract in summer 2007. He quickly signed for the Hawks after this in July that year.
While keeping a quiet profile, Jay became an essential member of the Hawks in his first season, contributing an essential presence to the record setting FA Cup run. Last season however, injury prevented him from becoming a consistent presence in the side; leaving him with 65 appearances over his two seasons to date.
