Tony Taggart(Left Midfield)
|Tony rejoins the Hawks this season after a break of three years playing football for Eastleigh and last season Sutton United. During his original tenure at Westleigh Park between 2005 and 2008 he made 121 appearances, scoring 13 goals.
Famously it was his 87th minute strike at Notts County in the second round proper of the FA Cup in 2007 that kept the Hawks on their journey to face Liverpool at Anfield.
Tony started his career with Brentford, before joining Farnborough in August 2001 for the first of two stints with the then Conference National side. The first, lasting two seasons until June 2003, saw him make 63 appearances in all, scoring six goals. Before returning to Farnborough in August 2004, he spent a year with Barnet, making 18 appearances and helping the side to a play off place.
His return to ‘Boro saw him make a further 42 appearances in all during the side’s relegation season through 2004/05, although he scored six goals again, and was named the player of the season.
Tempted by a full time contract he moved to Weymouth in June 2005, but asked to be released fafter finding himself a regular feature on the substitutes bench. With the Terras he made six starting and eight substitute appearances, scoring three goals.
Tony left the Hawks to join Hampton and Richmond Borough in January 2012 after failing to secure a full contract at Westleigh Park.
