From dead and buried to coulda won it

What a fantastic afternoon's football.
At half-time I couldn't see any way back for the Hawks, as we looked out-run, out-thought, and of course out-muscled all across the park.

Three great substitutions, bringing Tarby on gave us much more purpose and aggression down the right, and then how good was it to see Alfie and Wes coming on.

To be honest I wondered if it was a good idea for Alfie to take the penalty, but I suppose he's the leading scorer and obviously felt he wanted the opportunity. Coming after Frosty had hit the post (and what a shot that was!), when the pen went half way down Bartons Road I couldn't see us getting anything out of the game at all, and was expecting a third goal for Eastleigh.
But this team has got commitment, and what a finale they gave us. And after that thug Green thumped whoever it was he thumped, Eastleigh were hanging on for even a point.

Great entertainment.
Merry Christmas.

What a pleasure to witness a team and squad who never knows when it’s beaten, 2 nil down and Alfie missed a penalty which I’m reliably informed is still in flight and only 10 minutes left..... we were not to be done

When the first went in the players grew 3 inch, you could sense it would finish 2 all... at least!

So the first half, 442 with a diamond formation didn’t work, no width and hopeful long balls trying to use the pace up front was easy meat for the biggest defender you’ve ever seen, we did however more than match them but for a mad 5 minutes leaving a good striker at this level to score twice.

Second half saw frost more on the left and the return of Wes, who won the penalty, let’s hope he can stay fit for the second half of the season

And so to last 10 mins, robbo is in the right place 2 yards out, their lad goes bonkers and punches Alfie and struggs gets a leveller in the 90th minute.... just an average day out then :)

We didn’t look out of place against a team and club who’ve spent over 10 million quid since we last played them in 2014, that about sums up today, keep fighting hawks and with endeavour, enthusiasm and no little skill we will be ok

It certainly was a great comeback and one that simply did not seem possible at half-time. The first 45 minutes was not good and I thought eastleigh were good value for their lead. They looked strong and well organised. The contrast in our 2nd half performance was major and the longer that half went on the better we looked. We started playing some decent football and the confidence was clear to see. All the subs had an impact and as suggested above by the end it felt like we may even snatch all 3 points. Overall a draw was probably a fair result. We will have to start stronger to have any chance of getting something at their place though.

Not too much more to add from what has already been said :)

Great to see Wes back and doing what he does best!

First half poor, second half much better. Well done to the gaffer for making the changes at half time

Onto Saturday which is such a massive game. 1 point above us in the league and if we can pick up 3 points then we can continue to climb ourselves away from the dreaded bottom four.

First half showed how much of a miss Jonah is already, that target man is something you need to have in this league as that was the problem we had before he arrived.

But great fighting spirit from the squad 2nd half.

Was impressed by Tyler Frost when he got on the ball.

One player who looks so comfortable at this level is Andreas Robinson, seems so at ease on the ball and rarely looks like giving it away, was good for us in the other leagues lower down but even more comfortable this season.
