Have a look at the Last Post Association website - http://www.lastpost.be/ . This is the organisation that has played the Last Post well over 29,000 times at the Menin Gate in Ypres at 8.00pm each evening since 1928. If you are interested in the sacrifice of WW1 in particular, or any war in general, that is a seriously amazing place to visit.

I felt particularly humbled there because my family was incredibly lucky in that all of them that went to war came home intact, and you realise when you are there that it is really much more luck than skill that got them killed or not.

I'm incredibly thankful to the guys at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for their help in establishing the details about Hampshire's sinking. As mentioned in the blog it became the subject of a Clive Cussler novel a few years ago (if anyone knows the title it'd be brilliant) and I'm trying to discover if I'm related to the James Bond who lent Ian Fleming the name back in the 50's...
