Following the excellent performance Wednesday night, we had a different kettle of fish yesterday. Slough obviously came with a strict game plan and basically did a job on us. Apart from the last 15 or so minutes when some pressure was exerted, we generally huffed and puffed without really getting anywhere. Robbo had an early chance, but after that very little threatening intent on our part. They score from an unchallenged header from a corner and then the Ref gives a pen for them when he couldn't have been at all sure it was a foul. Talking about the Ref, he had an absolute shocker, from very early on you just knew there was a red card waiting to happen, he was blowing up for virtually every physical challenge and dishing out Yellows like they had gone out of fashion.
Don't believe for one minute Tommy's red was at all justified, he's sprinting to reach a through ball, the keeper's rushed out to smother at his feet, minimal contact was made, but of course the keeper's reaction was way over the top, as you would expect in this day and age, and the muppet in black has immediately fallen for it.
Jake has pulled a goal back early in added time soon after had an absolute thunderbolt miraculously blocked on the line by a defender which I dont think he knew anything about. Not sure we would have deserved a point if that had gone in however, on balance Slough just about deserved to win, and we now face a tough game on Tuesday against Hungerford who appear not to be the easy pickings they were 2 or 3 seasons ago.
